Jim Jacobs joined the faculty of the Department of Physics and Astronomy in 1993 after a one-year teaching appointment at Seattle University. Professor Jacobs's research is in experimental atomic physics with a focus on laser spectroscopy. During his time at UM, Professor Jacobs has taught courses on introductory physics, optics, thermodynamics and statistical physics, electronics, laboratory arts, advanced laboratory physics, classical mechanics, and special relativity.
